Council Member Jarvis Johnson Responds To
Haiti Relief Efforts Today
HOUSTON - Houston City Council Member Jarvis Johnson delivered 400 pairs of shoes for Haitian Relief efforts to the Haitian Multicultural Association at 9819 Bissonnet, Suite F, today, (Thursday) January 14, 2010 at noon.
“At this moment, thousands of our neighbors in Haiti are without shelter, searching for family and friends, and dealing with the emotional pains of a natural disaster. They are in great need of our assistance. Any gesture of kindness will go a long way toward rebuilding the lives of the people of Haiti,” said Johnson.
During his visit with the Haitian Multicultural Association, Council Member Johnson addressed the need for more storage space due to the overwhelming relief response by Houstonians. He is also reaching out to shipping companies to get their cooperation and assistance on this endeavor.
“I will continue to work with fellow Houstonians in the coming weeks in efforts to assist Haiti,” added Johnson.
Johnson represents Houston City Council District B.
